Switchblade Symphony was an American gothic rock band founded in 1989 in San
Francisco by Tina Root and Susan Wallace. They released their first demo
cassettes, Fable and "Elegy", in 1992 and 1993 respectively. Their debut album,
Serpentine Gallery, was released in 1995 on Cleopatra Records, blending
electropop, gothic rock, and alternative rock with a distinctive atmospheric
sound. The band's first US tour followed in 1996 with Christian Death and Big
Electric Cat. In 1997, they released Bread and Jam for Frances, which saw a
