Wilburn Theodore Cole, known as Stranger Cole, was born on June 26, 1942, in
Kingston, Jamaica. He started his music career as a songwriter, achieving early
success with "In and Out the Window" for Eric "Monty" Morris. His recording
debut came in 1962 with singles such as "Rough and Tough" and "When You Call My
Name", a duet with Patsy Todd. Cole worked with notable producers like Arthur
"Duke" Reid, Clement "Coxsone" Dodd, and Prince Buster. He emigrated to England
