Stoney & Meatloaf were an American soul rock duo from Detroit established in
1971. The group consisted of the musicians Meat Loaf and Shaun Murphy. They
achieved professional recognition after meeting as performers in the Detroit
cast of the stage production Hair. Their recording career began with the debut
studio recording Stoney & Meatloaf (1971). The ensemble achieved professional
recognition for the track “What You See Is What You Get” (1971). The duo became
