Steve Poltz, born February 19, 1960, in Halifax, Nova Scotia, is a
Canadian-American singer-songwriter and guitarist. He is a founding member of
the indie-rock band The Rugburns, gaining a cult following through performances
at coffeehouses and bars. In 1996, Steve Poltz collaborated with Jewel on "You
Were Meant for Me", which reached number 2 on the U.S. Billboard Hot 100. As a
solo artist, he released his debut album One Left Shoe in 1998 under Mercury
