Stephen John Magnusson, born on 13 February 1969 in Australia, is a guitarist
known for his work as an improviser. He began playing musical instruments at age
three when given a ukulele and started performing on electric guitar at ten.
Magnusson studied improvisation under Gordon Pendelton at Box Hill TAFE in 1985
and later at the Victorian College of the Arts under Tony Gould, Bob Sedergreen,
and Paul Grabowsky. In the mid-1990s, he traveled to Europe, collaborating with
