Stephen Mark Darlington, born on September 21, 1952, is a British choral
director, conductor, and organist. He became an organ scholar at Christ Church,
Oxford, studying under Simon Preston. Early in his career he served as assistant
organist at Canterbury Cathedral and Master of the Music for St Albans Cathedral
Choir. In 1985, Darlington returned to Christ Church, Oxford, serving as
Director of Music until his retirement in 2018. He led the choir on
