Σταύρος Ξαρχάκος

Stavros Xarchakos, born 14 March 1939 in Athens, Greece, is a Greek composer and
conductor, regarded as one of the most important contemporary figures in Greek
art and popular music. He studied at the Athens Conservatory, later studying
composition in Paris with Nadia Boulanger and at the Juilliard School in New
York with David Diamond. Xarchakos has written music for more than 40 albums, 21
films, television, theater, and ballet productions. His work blends Greek folk,
rebetiko, Byzantine, and European influences. He composed acclaimed soundtracks,
