SSD, an American hardcore band from Boston, Massachusetts, was formed in 1981 by
drummer Chris Foley, bassist James Sciarappa, and guitarist Al "Lethal" Barile,
under the name SS Decontrol, short for Society System Decontrol. They released
their demo, How Much Art. In 1982, SSD released their first album, The Kids Will
Have Their Say, on XClaim! Records with distribution by Dischord Records. The
following year saw the release of the EP Get It Away. In 1984, they switched to
