Sonny Burgess
Albert Austin "Sonny" Burgess, born on May 28, 1931, in Newport, Arkansas, was
an American rockabilly guitarist and singer. He started playing boogie-woogie
locally with the Rocky Road Ramblers. After serving in the U.S. Army from 1951
to 1953, Burgess reformed the group as the Moonlighters and signed with Sun
Records. In 1956, he released his debut single "We Wanna Boogie" with "Red
Headed Woman". He was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame of Europe in
1999. He passed away on August 18, 2017, in Little Rock, Arkansas.
