Smith Weed Dobson IV, also known as Smith Dobson, born on February 7, 1947, in
Stockton, California, was an American jazz pianist, singer, and arranger. He
received his musical education from his mother and later studied at San
Francisco State University and the University of the Pacific. Dobson's career
began with performances in Nevada casinos and a stint with the Air Force band
Airmen of Note in 1967. He collaborated extensively with notable artists such as
