Paul Murphy, known professionally as Skratch Bastid, was born on September 2,
1982, in Bedford, Nova Scotia. He is a Canadian DJ and record producer who
initially played euphonium in high school. His rise to prominence began with his
victory at the Scribble Jam DJ Battle in 2003, and he later won the competition
again in 2004 and 2007. In 2005, he released Taking Care of Business, a
