Michele Andrea Sherman, known professionally as Siya, was born on March 23,
1987, in Barstow, California. Raised by her grandmother in Brooklyn after her
parents' struggles with drug abuse and incarceration, Siya began rapping at age
seven and entered the music industry at twelve. Her early influences included
Bone Thugs-n-Harmony. In 2011, Siya released her first singles "I'm Gone" and
"Smoke Drink", along with the mixtape Elevator Dreams. She signed with Tank's
