Sixto Doroteo Palavecino was an Argentine folk musician and singer born in 1915.
In 1985, he received the Premio Konex as one of the best folklore instrumentists
in the history of Argentina. Palavecino was a promoter of the Quechua language.
His discography includes the albums Andando por Salavina con Sixto Palavecino y
sus hijos (1971) and Por qué... Por quién (2006). His songs include “Pa'que
bailen!”, “Nostalgia salavinera”, and “La amorosa”. Palavecino died in 2009.
