Simentera, a Cape Verdean music group, was formed in 1992. The band gained
recognition for blending traditional Cape Verdean music with electronic
instruments. In 1994, they performed at the Sfinks Festival in Boechout,
Belgium. Their debut album Raiz was released in 1992 on Lusafrica, featuring
covers of "Codjeta" by Kaká Barbosa and "Nha Codê" by Pedro Cardoso. Subsequent
albums included Barro e Voz (1997) and Cabo Verde en Serenata (2000), showcasing
