Shloime Gertner, born in 1980 in London, England, is a British Hasidic Jewish
singer. Raised in a Hasidic family in the Hendon neighborhood of London, Gertner
began his music career with the release of his debut album Nissim in 2007. The
album featured compositions by notable Jewish musicians such as Yossi Green and
Pinky Weber. In 2008, a controversy arose surrounding The Big Event, a concert
featuring Shloime Gertner and Lipa Schmeltzer at Madison Square Garden's WaMu
Theater in New York City. A rabbinical ban led to the cancellation of the event.
