Shirley Goodman and Leonard Lee, known as Shirley & Lee, are an American musical
duo from New Orleans. Born in 1936, both were vocalists who began their career
by recording a demo for "I'm Gone" at Cosimo Matassa's studio. Their debut
single reached number 2 on Billboard's R&B chart in January 1953. Shirley & Lee
gained recognition as "the Sweethearts of the Blues" with romantic-themed songs
