Sharon Forrester was born in 1956 in Kingston, Jamaica, and began singing in
church choirs from the age of six. She first gained attention with the 1973
single "Silly Wasn't I", produced by Geoffrey Chung and backed by his Now
Generation Band, and performed alongside The Wailers at the Ethiopian Benefit
Concert that same year. Her debut album Sharon was released in 1974, largely
recorded in the United Kingdom during a musicians’ strike, and the same year she
