She initially pursued art but transitioned to show business after performing at the Marigold Gardens nightclub. Etting gained national recognition through her appearance in Flo Ziegfeld's Follies of 1927 and released over 60 hit recordings, including "Shine On, Harvest Moon", "Ten Cents a Dance", and "Love Me or Leave Me".
