Russ Case
Russell D. Case, born March 19, 1912 in Hamburg, Iowa, was an American
trumpeter, arranger, and bandleader whose career began as a youth playing in the
studio band of radio station WOC in Davenport, Iowa. After moving to Chicago,
Case performed with Frankie Trumbauer and later joined the Paul Whiteman
Orchestra as a trumpeter and arranger. He recorded with Jimmy Lytell and His All
Star Seven, and served as second trumpet with the Benny Goodman Orchestra.
Following World War II, he directed the studio orchestra for NBC and worked as
an A&R manager for pop music at RCA Victor. Case...
