Rotary Connection was formed in Chicago, Illinois, in 1967 by Marshall Chess,
who recruited arranger Charles Stepney and vocalist Minnie Riperton. The group’s
first recording sessions culminated in the self‑titled debut album Rotary
Connection released in 1968, which reached the Billboard charts for 34 weeks and
established the band as a pioneer of psychedelic soul. In 1968 the duo released
