Rokusuke Ei, born on April 10, 1933, in Tokyo, Japan, was a prolific writer and
lyricist. He began his career writing lyrics for various artists, achieving
significant success with "Sukiyaki" (1961), which became an international hit in
1963 and was featured in several American films. Ei also penned the lyrics for
"Miagete goran yoru no hoshi o", performed by Kyu Sakamoto in 1963. Throughout
his career, Ei collaborated with numerous artists and released notable albums
such as 永六輔 + 中村八大 LIVE (1985) and 六輔 その世界 (2002). Rokusuke Ei passed away on
July 7, 2016.
