Robert David Mirsky, known professionally as Robert Mersey, was born on
April 7, 1917 in New York City and worked primarily as a musician, arranger, and
record producer. In the 1950s, Mersey arranged for Leiber and Stoller. His
breakthrough came in 1959 when he recorded "Tracy's Theme," an instrumental
written by Robert Ascher, issued under the pseudonym Spencer Ross due to
contractual issues. The single peaked at number 13 on the Billboard Hot 100.
