Robert Lowery
Robert Lowery, born Robert Lee Lowery on April 8, 1931 in Shula, Arkansas, was
an American blues singer and guitarist. As a teenager, he learned blues tunes
from records by artists such as Robert Johnson and Lightnin' Hopkins, developing
his own distinctive style. In 1957, after moving to Santa Cruz, California,
Lowery backed up Big Mama Thornton. His first major concert appearance came in
1974 at the San Francisco Blues Festival. Throughout his career, Lowery traveled
