Ritmo Peligroso is a Mexican post-punk and rock band formed in 1978 in Ciudad de
México. The group began as a punk outfit called Dangerous Rhythm and adopted its
current name in 1984. The lineup featured vocalist Piro Pendás and bassist Avi
Michel Jr. Early releases under the original name included the EP Electroshock
(1980) and the single “Marielito” (1984) which established a punk sound
performed largely in English. In 1988 the band released a homonymous album which
introduced a shift toward rock in Spanish and Latin rhythms and produced the
hits “Déjala tranquila” and “Contami...
