Rites of Spring was an American punk rock band from Washington, D.C., formed in
late 1983 by Guy Picciotto, Brendan Canty, Mike Fellows, and Eddie Janney. The
group notably became a mainstay act of the 1985 Revolution Summer movement.
Their music blended the intensity of hardcore punk with emotional lyrics,
contributing to the development of what is now known as emo-core. Their debut
album, Rites of Spring, was recorded in February 1985 at Inner Ear Studios and
