Rigo Star
Rigobert Bamundele, known professionally as Rigo Star, born August 28, 1955, in
Léopoldville, Belgian Congo, was a Congolese soukous guitarist and composer. He
began his professional career in 1975, performing with major soukous and world
music acts, including Papa Wemba's Viva La Musica, Bozi Boziana's Anti-Choc,
Koffi Olomidé, and Kanda Bongo Man. Throughout the 1990s, Bamundele collaborated
almost exclusively with Congolese singer Mbilia Bel, releasing albums such as
Phénomène (1988) and Ironie (1993). As a solo artist, he released the albums Ne
refuse pas (1985), Got the Feel...
