Richard P. Condie was an American conductor who was born in Springville, Utah,
in 1898. He achieved early professional recognition after being appointed
assistant conductor of the Mormon Tabernacle Choir in 1937 and is famous for
serving as the director of the ensemble between 1957 and 1974. Condie is noted
for his collaboration with Eugene Ormandy and the Philadelphia Orchestra on the
recording "Battle Hymn of the Republic" (1958), which won a Grammy Award. His
