Reynaldo Hahn
Reynaldo Hahn, born on August 9, 1874, in Caracas, Venezuela, was a French
composer, conductor, and singer of Venezuelan origin. He began his musical
education at the Conservatoire de Paris in October 1885, studying under Albert
Lavignac and Jules Massenet. In 1887, he wrote "Si mes vers avaient des ailes",
a melody based on a poem by Victor Hugo. In 1890, he composed the incidental
music for Alphonse Daudet's L'Obstacle. Hahn became known for his melodies,
performing in Parisian salons and meeting Marcel Proust, with whom he formed a
