Rashid Behbudov was an Azerbaijani singer and actor who was born in Tbilisi,
Russian Empire, in 1915. He began a career at the Philharmonic Theater in
Yerevan (1934–1944) and moved to Baku in 1945. Behbudov is famous for his role
as Asker in the film The Cloth Peddler (1945) and for being referred to as the
“golden voice of Azerbaijan”. He achieved professional recognition for a vocal
range that spanned from classical performances to lyrical songs and performed in
