Redd Kross, an American alternative rock group formed in Hawthorne, California,
emerged from a 1978 punk band called The Tourists, founded by brothers Jeff
McDonald and Steven McDonald. The band’s early lineup included Greg Hetson on
guitar and John Stielow on drums, and their first performance opened for Black
Flag. After changing their name to Red Cross in 1979 and later to Redd Kross in
1982 to avoid legal issues, the group released their debut self‑titled EP Redd
