Rasputina, an American rock band based in New York City, was formed in 1992 by
cellist/vocalist Melora Creager. The group initially began as an electric cello
choir after Creager placed an ad seeking women musicians. Rasputina signed with
Columbia Records in 1996 and released their debut album Thanks for the Ether
that year; the follow-up EP Transylvanian Regurgitations appeared in 1997. Their
second full-length album, How We Quit the Forest (1998), featured collaborations
