Raffi Cavoukian, born July 8, 1948 in Cairo, Egypt, is an Armenian-Canadian singer-lyricist whose career began in Toronto folk coffee houses. After a 1974 nursery-school performance, he recorded the children’s albums Good Luck Boy (1975) and Singable Songs for the Very Young (1976), followed by the adult-contemporary release Adult Entertainment (1977). His 1980 album Baby Beluga reached widespread acclaim, featuring the popular title track “Baby Beluga”, and the 1994 album Bananaphone produced the enduring title track “Bananaphone”.
