Rafael Orozco Flores was a Spanish pianist born in 1946. He won several
international competitions early in his career and studied under José Cubiles
and Alexis Weissenberg. In 1966, he won first prize at the Leeds International
Piano Competition. This led to collaborations with conductors including Herbert
von Karajan, Carlo Maria Giulini, and Daniel Barenboim. Orozco performed on five
continents with orchestras such as those of Cleveland, Chicago, New York, and
Berlin. He died in 1996.
