Radio Stars were formed in early 1977 in the United Kingdom by bassist and
songwriter Martin Gordon, former member of Sparks, joined by ex‑John's Children
vocalist Andy Ellison and guitarist Ian MacLeod; the group originally included
drummer Chris Townson. Their first single, "Dirty Pictures", was released in
April 1977 on Chiswick Records and later appeared on the Submarine Tracks &
Fool's Gold sampler; it was followed by the Stop It EP in August 1977. In
December 1977 the band issued their debut album Songs for Swinging Lovers, which
