Rabbani, a quasi‑traditional nasheed group was formed in Malaysia by lead
vocalist Mohammed Asri Ibrahim and a 13‑member lineup; Ibrahim had previously
performed with NadaMurni before its dissolution following the 1994 ban of
Al‑Arqam. The group’s self‑titled debut album Rabbani (1997) sold over 90 000
copies, propelled by tracks such as "Assalamualaikum" and "Munajat", and
established Rabbani as a prominent name in Islamic and world music circles.
