Quetzal, a Chicano rock band from East Los Angeles, California, was founded in
1993 by Quetzal Flores. The group initially formed at Troy Cafe in Little Tokyo,
Los Angeles. Martha Gonzalez joined the band in 1995, and together they
developed a unique sound blending Mexican and Afro-Cuban rhythms with jazz,
rhythm and blues, and rock music. Their debut album Quetzal was released in
1998. The band's breakthrough came with their 2012 album Imaginaries, which won
