Providence, a six-piece rock band from Boise, Idaho, formed in 1971 and later
based in Portland, Oregon. The group consisted of Bob Barriatua on electric bass
and vocals, Bartholomew Bishop on lead vocals and keyboards, Jim Cockey on
violin and glockenspiel, Andy Guzie on guitars, Tim Tompkins on cello and
percussion, and Tom Tompkins on viola. Their sound blended soft rock and
classical influences, featuring contrapuntal instrumental interludes and broad
vocal harmonies. The band released their sole album Ever Sense the Dawn in 1972.
Providence disbanded in 1974. After the break...
