Pierre-Matthieu Vilmet, known professionally as Pierpoljak, was born on
September 7, 1964, in Paris, France. He began his musical journey at the age of
13 as a bassist in a punk band called Samu 92. In 1988, he joined the Blues
Party Sound System and adopted the pseudonym Peter Braada, later changing it to
Pierpoljak. His breakthrough came with the release of his self-titled debut
album Pierpoljak in 1996, which was re-recorded and re-arranged with Jamaican
musicians at Bob Marley's Tuff Gong studios, resulting in the double album
