Phil Markowitz
Philip L. "Phil" Markowitz, born on September 6, 1952, in Brooklyn, New York
City, is an American pianist and composer known for his work in fusion jazz. He
began playing piano at age four and composing at eight, studying at the Eastman
School of Music. His band Petrus was highlighted at the Newport Jazz Festival in
1973. Markowitz collaborated with notable musicians such as Chet Baker, Al Di
Meola, and Dave Liebman, releasing albums like Restless Dreams (1983) and
