Peter DeRose, born on March 10, 1896, in New York City, was an American composer
known for his contributions to jazz and pop music. He began playing piano at a
young age and had his first song, "Tiger Rose Waltzes", published when he was
18. After graduating from DeWitt Clinton High School in 1917, DeRose secured a
job at G. Ricordi & Co., following the success of his composition "When You're
Gone, I Won't Forget". In 1923, he met May Singhi Breen and they collaborated on
The Sweethearts of the Air, a radio show that ran for sixteen years. DeRose's
most famous song, "Deep Purple"...
