Pete York, born Peter York on August 15, 1942, in Middlesbrough, Yorkshire, is
an English rock drummer. He began his career playing with local jazz bands
before joining the Spencer Davis Group. The group's hits "Keep On Running"
(1965) and "Gimme Some Lovin’" (1966) marked their breakthrough. In 1969, York
left the group to form Hardin & York with Eddie Hardin. He then founded Pete
York's Percussion Band in 1972, collaborating with notable musicians like Ian
