Jean McClain, known professionally as Pepper Mashay, was born on March 8, 1953,
in Muncie, Indiana. She is an American soul, house, and dance music
singer-songwriter whose musical influences include Janis Joplin, Joni Mitchell,
and Bob Dylan. In her twenties, she left Indiana to pursue a music career.
Mashay's breakthrough came with the release of "Something to Feel" in 1995,
