People Under the Stairs
People Under the Stairs was an American hip-hop ensemble from Los Angeles
established in 1997. The group consisted of the musicians Christopher Portugal,
known as Thes One, and Michael Turner, known as Double K. They achieved
professional recognition for a musical style characterized by underground
hip-hop and sampling. The ensemble was founded after the musicians met at a
local record store in 1996 while attending high schools in the mid-city area.
