Merrill Beth Nisker, born 11 November 1968 in Toronto, Ontario, Canada, is a
Canadian electronic musician and songwriter who performs under the stage name
Peaches. After early theatrical work and a teaching career, she emerged in the
early 1990s with the folk trio Mermaid Cafe and released her first solo EP
Fancypants Hoodlum in 1995, followed by the debut studio album
The Teaches of Peaches in 2000 on Kitty‑Yo, which included the single "Fuck the
