Formed in St. Louis, Missouri, in 1972, the progressive rock band Pavlov's Dog
was signed by the ABC label on the strength of a demo, The Pekin Tapes, which
officially surfaced in 2014. Characterized by the high-pitched voice of singer
and guitarist David Surkamp, the band recorded a landmark album, Pampered Menial
(1974), produced by the tandem of Sandy Pearlman and Murray Krugman before
