Patti Drew, born Patti Drew on December 29, 1944, in Charleston, South Carolina,
was an American singer. At age twelve, her family moved to Evanston, Illinois,
where she and her sisters Loraine and Erma began singing at their local church.
Their talents were noticed by a producer from Capitol Records, leading to the
formation of the group The Drew-Vels with songwriter Carlton Black. In 1963,
they released their first single, "Tell Him". Patti Drew embarked on a solo
career in 1967 with a new version of "Tell Him", which reached number 85 on the
