Patricia Neway, born on September 30, 1919 in Kensington Brooklyn, was an
American operatic soprano and musical theatre actress. She debuted on Broadway
as a member of the chorus in a 1942 production of Jacques Offenbach's La Vie
parisienne and later sang as the soprano soloist in the premiere of Mystic
Trumpeter at Town Hall in 1944. Her breakthrough came with the creation of the
role of Magda Sorel in Gian Carlo Menotti’s The Consul, a role she recorded for
