Oscar Lopez, born in 1953 in Santiago, Chile, is a Chilean-Canadian guitarist
known for blending Latin and jazz styles. He moved to Canada in 1978 and
initially performed as an electric guitarist before transitioning to Latin-style
acoustic guitar. His debut album Hola (1989) was released. In 1990, he met
singer-songwriter James Keelaghan, leading to collaborations including the Juno
Award-nominated albums Compadres (1997) and ¿Buddy Where You Been? (2007). Lopez
