Oscar Klein, born January 5, 1930 in Graz, Austria, was a trumpeter and
guitarist known for his work in old-time and mainstream jazz. During World War
II, he received mandolin lessons while interned in Italy. His musical career
began at the Hot Club Basel with the band Feetwarmers. In 1952, Klein joined
Fatty George's band in Vienna. He later married jazz singer Miriam Klein and led
various formations, including Oscar Klein’s Jazzshow. Notable collaborations
include work with Albert Nicholas, Joe Turner, Cootie Williams, and Joe Venuti.
