Oscar Marcelo Alemán, born on February 20, 1909, in Machagai, Chaco Province,
Argentina, was a jazz multi-instrumentalist, guitarist, singer, and dancer. He
joined his family ensemble at six, playing the cavaquinho before transitioning
to guitar. Alemán's professional career began with the duo Los Lobos in Brazil,
later moving to Buenos Aires where they formed a trio with violinist Elvino
Vardaro. In 1929, he traveled to Europe, staying in Madrid as a soloist before
moving to Paris and leading Josephine Baker's band at the Cafe de Paris. During
